Overcoming bipolar disorder, now how could that be? I say impossible if truly bipolar. Dealing with it, living with it, etc, o.k. but 'overcoming' is a mighty strong word for a brain disease that is not curable. Comment please. Are you misdiagnosed like I think I am for twelve years.........and taking lithium.......Hmm.

Hi Joanne,
I think we're on the same page. I say 'overcoming' meaning managing the major symptoms so they no longer interfere with my life on a daily and severe basis. That is: so I stay out of the hospital, so I can work if I choose, so I have a quality of life I enjoy. Like you said, this is a brain disorder that has no cure, but I believe, we can find ways to manage its' challenges so our life is rewarding and we longer define ourselves by the illness but by our dreams.
