Q:

i don't know if you are the person to ask but i have been depressed most of my life. also i have phobias and feel inferior to most people. i have seen psychologists off and on for many years. with no results. is the midwest center for anxiety any good. its on tv all the time. i don't trust people from infomercials much. just wondered what your opinion was

A:

I am not familiar with the Midwest Center for Anxiety. Have the psychologists that you have seen specialized in the area of depression and anxiety? It is useful to interview a therapist before you start to work with them to ensure that they have the appropriate qualifications to treat your specific situation. The most effective modality of therapy used to treat depression and phobias is generally a combination of medication and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy(specifically, exposure or desensitization therapy for phobias).
